Funeral services for Booker Birdsong Jr., of Greenville, MS will be at 11 am Saturday July 22, 2023 at Vessels of Mercy, Greenville. Visitation is Friday, July 21, 2023 from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm at Byas Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Sunday, July 9, 2023.

I remember Booker in my Senior year at Greenville Hgh School. We had a class together and he sat on my right. He was such a nice person. I enjoyed talking to him and getting to know him. We were segregated my Junior or Senior year. It must have been very hard to enter,along with just a few more black students in such a racially charged time in an all predominately white school. If it did,Booker never showed his feelings. I have often thought about him and his life. I hope his experience prepared him for a good life where he could contribute his talents. My condolences to his family and my admiration for his strength and courage during an unsettling time. Rest in PEACE,Booker.
