Obituary

Mickey "Papaw" Harris Hamilton

LEXINGTON – A Celebration of Life Service for Mickey Harris Hamilton, 66, of Lexington, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service and also following the service. The family will also be at the Riley Home starting at 5:00pm on Friday, April 25th. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Special Olympics of South Carolina, 1276 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or charity of one's choice.

Mr. Hamilton was born October 5, 1947 in Greenville, MS to Woodrow Wilson Hamilton and Edna Christine Matthews Hamilton and passed away on April 23, 2014. 

Papaw loved children of all ages and was a volunteer at Lake Murray Elementary. He was a great story teller, very entertaining and loved to make people laugh. Mickey served in the United States Air Force and worked in Retail Sales for Best Buy and Lowes in Appliance sales. Although he had a great career, his biggest accomplishment was all of the wonderful friends he made along the way. He lived in Washington DC area for a while before moving to Lexington. Mickey loved playing golf and was a ranger at Golden Hills Golf Course in Lexington. Mickey leaves behind a large Golfing Friend Community.
 
Mickey is survived by wife, Rhonda Glenn Hamilton of Lexington; daughters, Mickie Lynn Burden of and Rebecca Jean Padilla (Robert Chisano) both of Lawrenceville, GA; step-children, Denise Riley Hansen and Brian Glenn Riley (Jen); 9 grandchildren, Jackie, Brett, Blake, Sydney, Conner, Claire, Bailey, Maclane and Beckett; great-grand daughter Stella and special mother-in-law Sybil Lawford Glenn. He was predeceased by his brother, Raburne Hamilton.
