Marion William Nicholson

Marion William (Nick) Nicholson. After a 3 year battle with cancer, at age 56, Mr. Nicholson went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 in Roanoke, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arvis Nicholson and a sister Norma Johnson. Mr. Nicholson was born and reared in Brookhaven and Ruth, Mississippi until age 15 and lived in Greenville, Mississippi before joining the U.S. Navy.

He and his wife of 32 years worked as a team managing hotels in Mississippi and most recently was employed by Rent-A-Space, Inc. in Roanoke, Virginia. Mr. Nicholson was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia and was active in the Men's Fraternity.

He was an ordained Deacon and served as a Gideon. He loved cooking and was a field editor for the "Taste of Home" magazine while living in Mississippi. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Forwood Nicholson; foster daughters, Glenda Cox of Pelahatchie, Mississippi and Kathy Miller of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; four foster grandchildren; a sister, Sue Abdul Hadi of St. Augustine, Florida; twin brother, Aaron Nicholson of Greenville, Mississippi; a stepmother, Helen Nicholson of Sevierville, Tennessee; two step-brothers, Bill Lane of Seymour, Tennessee and Allen Lane of Greenville, Mississippi; 15 nieces and nephews; 18 grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3:00pm, Monday, December 27, 2004 at Oakey s Roanoke Chapel with Dr. James Austin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Additional services will be held at Risser s Mennonite Church, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 2:00pm with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Risser s Mennonite Cemetery. Dr. Edd Lawrence of Clarksdale, MS, officiating. Arrangements by Oakey s Roanoke Chapel.
