WOODLANDS, Texas — Thomas “Tommy” G. Barnes III, 74, of The Woodlands, TX, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 13, 2022, after battling lung cancer.
Tommy was born in Greenwood, MS, on Jan. 9, 1948. Tommy grew up in Greenville, MS. He graduated from Greenville High School, attended the University of Mississippi, and graduated from Delta State University. He then went on to become a successful business owner.
Tommy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose simple joys in life included spending time with family and friends, playing golf, hunting, and the beach. It was his positive attitude, selflessness and his elaborate stories about life in the Mississippi Delta that will be missed the most.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Carla Kremser Barnes; and his three daughters, Kendal Bittick (Andrew Bittick), Brooke Barnes and Rachel Barnes (Stephen Fry); also his two grandchildren, Liam Bittick and Olivia Fry. He is also survived by his two brothers, Fred Barnes and Jack Barnes; his sister, Susan Clark, and her son, Gipson Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, THOMAS BARNES and Susan Montgomery Barnes.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Trinity Episcopal Church in the Woodlands, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to MD Anderson.
