Virginia Marie Mitchell

Clarksdale, MS

Virginia Marie Mitchell, 65, a Homemaker, died Dec. 11, 2013 at Clarksdale Nursing Center. Visitation is Sunday, 1-2 pm with Funeral services at 2pm at Saint Georges Episcopal Church in Clarksdale, MS. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Mitchell attended Delta State and MSCW. She loved the Ole Miss Rebels and had a special fondness for animals. Since she was 27 years old she has courageously battled Multiple Sclerosis. She also led the Greenville/Leland area Multiple Sclerosis support group inspiring and encouraging families suffering from the disease along the way. Ginger had a special way of enheartening those who suffered from MS and giving them strength through her example.

Ginger had a strong faith in God growing up in and practicing the Episcopal Faith.

Survivors include: Sister Billie Evelyn Goodman of Clarksdale, MS. Nephew Henry Sampson Goodman (Julie) and 2 great nieces Grace Ruth Goodman and Evelyn Marie Goodman.

Preceded in death by her son William Henry Hemphill and her parents William McDonald and Mary Virginia Foster Megget.

A special word of thanks to loving, consistent, lifelong friend and caregiver Margaret Littlepage and very special friends Becky Watts, Linda Childress, Inez Clay, Gertrude Sigmond, and Ruby Jones. A special thanks is also given to Clarksdale Nursing Center staff as well as all of the doctors and nurses who were involved in Ginger's care.

Memorials may be sent to Clarksdale Animal Shelter or Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mississippi Chapter
