Funeral services for John Travis Tharp, Jr. of Greenville, Ms., will be Friday, August 14th, 2015. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. with the service immediately following at 11:00 A.M. The graveside service will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Milligan Springs Cemetery in Stewart, Ms. John peacefully passed away August 11th, 2015 in Jackson, Ms.
John was born January 16th, 1947 in Winona, Ms., to the late John Travis Sr and the late Kathleen Sellers Tharp. He was a long-time resident of Greenville, Ms. He worked as an office manager for Bellsouth of Hattiesburg, Ms. and was a retired truck driver. He was an active member of the Yacht Club. John loved to fish as much as he enjoyed watching Mississippi State football. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Don Tharp and his parents, John Tharp Sr. and Kathleen Sellers Tharp.
John is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Deborah Sullivan Tharp, his 3 sons, John Winston Tharp (Paula) of Sallis, Ms., Wayne Travis Tharp (Alison) of Sallis, Ms., John Travis III (Missy) of Brandon, Ms., 3 daughters, Angie Sansing (Alan) of Columbus, Ms., Stephanie Horton (Jimmy) of Benton, Ar., Regina Delaughter of Greenville, Ms., 1 brother, James Ed Tharp (Debra) of Southaven, Ms., 1 sister, Ann Giachelli (Randy) of Greenville, Ms., his mother-in-law, Gloria Sullivan of Greenville, Ms., 4 brother-in-laws, Charles Sullivan ( Doris) of Leland, Ms., Ronnie Sullivan (Kaye) of Inverness, Ms., Mike Sullivan (Pam) of Manilla, Ar., Robert Sullivan (Laura) of Leland, Ms., 1 sister-in-law, Tammy Redwine (Harold) of Greenville, Ms. his 14 grandchildren, Hilliary O’Briant, Lauren Fancher, Jordan Tharp, Ellis Tharp, Hayes Tharp, Anna Ballard Tharp, Macie James Tharp, Lori Sansing, Brayden Sansing, Shealyn Horton, Hailey Horton, Keelee Horton, Nathan Raymond and Natalie Raymond, 2 great grandchildren, Charlie Claire O’Briant and Anna O’Briant.
Pastor John Gentry and Pastor Gene Richardson will officiate the services.
