GAUTIER — Funeral services for James Michael “Mickey” Harbin, 66, of Gautier and formerly of Greenville, will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Gautier. He died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at his home surrounded by family. Burial will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Ocean Springs, under the direction of O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula.

Harbin was born Dec. 4, 1947, in Greenwood, to James and Eunice Harbin. He graduated from the Class of 1966 of Greenville High School and received his degree in business marketing from Delta State University. He worked at First Chemical for 33 years before retiring as vice president of marketing in 2003. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gautier.

He enjoyed genealogy and was passionate about classic cars, particularly Mustangs. He was a member of the Magnolia Classic Cruisers and participated in Cruisin the Coast. As a husband and his wife, Judy’s, best friend, he was a provider and protector. As a father and “papaw” he was supportive and dedicated and received great pleasure from attending sporting events, ballet performances and cheerleading competitions. The choices he made educationally and religiously were to benefit the ones he loved the most, his family. He was an example, mentor and friend and will be missed greatly.

He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Harbin; a brother, Stephen E. Harbin; and an uncle, Rusty Duke.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Harbin, of Gautier; two children, Kirk Harbin and his wife, Bridgette, of Pascagoula, and Meredith Blades and her husband, Jacob, of Ocean Springs; his mother, Eunice Harbin, of Gautier; two sisters-in-law, Jenni Simpson, of Ethel, and Diane Holley, of Olympia, Wash.; niece and nephew, Stephenie Burke, of Seattle, and Jason Harbin, of Pascagoula; six grandchildren, Alexis, Austin, Andrew, Patrick, Shelby and Emily; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. today at the church. Pallbearers will be Joe Cuevas, Bobby Hand, Rex Foster, George Simmons, Guy Hall, Wayne Hairston, Rusty Gill and Joe D. Blades. Those who would like may express their condolences online at obryantokeefe.com.
